In 1986, the iconic ‘Platforms Piece’ statues were installed at the Brixton station, immediately becoming a beloved Brixton landmark. These three life-size bronze figures stood tall, welcoming passengers as they arrived and departed from the station.
The cultural and artistic significance of ‘Platforms Piece’ was further recognized when it was granted Grade II-listed status by Historic England. The statues were temporarily removal to allow for their refurbishment and preservation. The project involved reinstatement of the three original statues alongside a new statue with continued the artistic legacy of the original sculptures.
