Project Overview

The Trevor Patrick Partnership was commissioned by Southern to provide ‘one stop shop’ construction consultancy services for the provision of a project to provide access for all at Worthing.

The projects formed part of Southern’s ongoing commitment to improve accessibility at their Stations.

The Project work activities involved the following:

  • Construct new 1:15 twin ramped (length approx 10m) and stepped access to listed station entrance.
  • Remove existing doors and install new sliding doors with automatic opening.
  • Remove existing ticket windows and Install new DDA compliant ticket windows with low level shelves.
  • Fully automatic bi-folding doors have been fitted at the station entrance as well as at the rear of the ticket hall leading to the platforms
  • Three fully DDA compliant ticket windows have also been installed which, at the press of a button, move down to accommodate easy use by wheelchair users
  • New flat screen customer information monitors
  • Booking hall lighting upgrade
  • The ticket office has been completely modernised
  • Modern lighting has been installed with the booking hall being redecorated throughout.

Landscaping Requirements:

  • The Project work activities involved the following:
  • Establishing general landscape requirements with clients
  • Conducting preliminary studies of the site (including levels, soil, ecology, buildings, services, and roads)
  • Assessing a site’s potential to meet the client’s specifications
  • Carrying out environmental impact assessments
  • Seeking and taking into account the views of local residents, potential users, and parties with a vested interest in the project
  • Accurately preparing and presenting detailed plans and working drawings, including applications, construction details and specifications for the project
  • Presenting proposals to clients, dealing with enquiries and negotiating any amendments to final design
  • Contacting and coordinating manufacturers and suppliers
  • Monitoring and checking work on-site
  • Specifying and detailing of fences, walls, paving kerbstones, tactile paving etc.
